Government procurement or public procurement refers to the purchase made by government agencies to acquire goods, services, and works. In Malaysia, government agencies are required to procure goods and services through ePerolehan, a web-based procurement system that connects the agencies to a pool of supplier companies from across the country. These supplier companies must be verified and registered under the Ministry of Finance (MoF) in order to acquire the licence to offer their products and services to government agencies and participate in government tenders via ePerolehan.

The system was rigorously designed to include various features that streamline the entire procurement process, allowing government agencies to effectively plan and manage their annual spending. Features such as Supplier Selection allows government users to systematically evaluate potential suppliers based on their competency and past performances. Contract Management is another powerful tool that allows government users to conveniently prepare, revise, maintain, and access all contracts in one platform. Supplier companies on the other hand can easily register and renew their licence with the Ministry of Finance and better manage their business profile and virtual catalogues to stand out from competitors.

ePerolehan undergoes continuous development and enhancement throughout the years to meet the requirements of government policies and business processes that continuously changing and evolving in line with technological advancement. A revamped version of the system, which was released in January 2018, allows the system to be equipped with better features that tremendously impact the Government’s procurement process with improved efficiency and productivity and reduced operational cost for both government agencies and supplier companies.
